DOING BUSINESS IN SOUTH KOREA


In 2016, South Korea was the world's eleventh largest economy by Gross Domestic Product (GDP), by Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) and it was the fourth largest in Asia. The South Korean economy will be the tenth largest contributor to world growth over the next five years, comparable to that of the UK and greater than France or Italy. There are 310 British companies currently doing business in South Korea, with business opportunities emerging across a number of industries.

UNITED NATIONS BUSINESS CLINIC


The UN is a promising market for UK companies as the UN overall procurement volume (goods and services combined) of the various UN organisations is worth around £12 billion per year. UN procurement is suitable for small as well as larger companies because payment is guaranteed. In addition, English is the working language and the UK has an excellent reputation among the UN agencies, being the UN's ninth largest supplier in 2015. Although these organisations present huge purchasing opportunities, it is essential to be well prepared and familiar with the purchasing process. It is important to know how to register your company to be invited to bid, and to know which international organisation could be most interested in your company's products or services.

THE FOURTH ANNUAL UK-NIGERIA SUMMIT: THE JOURNEY AHEAD


London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is pleased to be partnering with the Nigeria London Business Forum (NILOBF) for this summit. The event invites policymakers, business leaders, investors, exporters and finance professionals to reflect on Nigeria's economic journey as it enters a new phase of economic growth and prosperity. Nigeria has been leading the way as Africa's most lucrative economy.  Low inflation and a real effort by the Nigerian government to deal with corruption mean that Nigeria remains an attractive economy for UK investors.

 

This is one of the first events of 2017 in London to review Nigeria's regeneration agenda. The summit will address what needs to be done to invigorate the country to its advantage.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS TRAINING: RULES OF ORIGIN / CUSTOMS PROCEDURES AND DOCUMENTATION


This one-day course is split in two distinct sessions. The morning session examines in detail the procedures required to deal with customs import and the implications of duty relief schemes to ensure that businesses trading globally can work efficiently and economically. The afternoon session explores in greater depth the current Rules of Origin, Preferential Trade Agreements and how to establish where goods originate "officially". The internal factors to support originate declarations are also covered; something of key importance for importers and exporters alike.

The course is ideally suited for all staff working in import/export administration, international sales, accountancy, and shipping and logistics. It is designed for people new to international business but also for experienced company staff who may want to refresh their knowledge.

INCOTERMS TRAINING COURSE


This course, organised by Enterprise Europe Network at London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), has been designed to help exporters understand Incoterms - International Commercial Terms - and how to select the correct one for their international transactions. These global shipping terms have huge importance for the exporting and importing of products around the globe. They outline the risk and responsibility between the buyer and the seller for each transaction.

The course will take you through all the aspects of understanding Incoterms 2010. Learning the terminology will help you to understand better how to cover the risks and responsibilities between the buyer and seller, their obligations to each other for the shipment, and the allocation of costs.

The course is designed for people who may be new to exporting as well as experienced exporters who may need to keep up with industry updates. The course is mainly designed for sales, shipping, accounts, purchasing/buyers, freight forwarders and goods in/out personnel.

EUROPEAN COMPANY MISSION TO TAIWAN


UK companies are invited to join businesses from EU countries to explore the growing business opportunities in Taiwan. The food and drinks sector is the fifth largest industry in Taiwan and one of the market's fastest growing sectors. Local supermarkets, hypermarkets and convenience stores are increasing their ranges of imported foods to meet demand.
